NYC FOODIE SANDWICH SHOP OF THE WEEK: TORRISI ITALIAN SPECIALTIES

Ah, the sandwich. Without the sandwich, lunch just might not exist. Gourmet sandwich shops are popping up all over NYC and beyond, but everyone must direct their attention to Torrisi Italian Specialties immediately!

I have been to Torrisi (and am now the "Mayor" on Foursquare!) 3 times in the last 4 days because their sandwiches are so unbelievable! During the day Torrisi moonlights as a sandwich shop/Italian specialties store, by night it's an Italian restaurant that serves a 5 course dinner for $50. This place is cool.

On my first trip I had the chicken parm on a roll ($7), as well as a side of roasted cauliflower ($3) and beans and bacon ($4). The chicken parm was amazing. I would say the best I have ever had! The sweet tomato sauce, the perfectly cooked chicken cutlet, the fresh mozzarella, and some fresh basil made this chicken parm sandwich heavenly!

The best cauliflower I have ever had was at Torrisi as well! Roasted with progresso, rosemary, and some lemon juice, it was absolutely fabulous! I never craved cauliflower until this moment!

The beans and bacon were fine and tasty too.
