I literally just wrote about Torrisi Italian Specialites, one of my new favorite dining spots in NYC, but needed to start a new write-up to discuss their House Turkey sandwich ($7). Why? Because it's the best I have ever had, and it deserves its own write-up!
I don't eat turkey sandwiches often, and when I do, it's just your run-of-the-mill Boarshead, etc., etc. Well, this ain't Boarshead they are serving at Torrisi my friends. They use lots of brine, CVAC it low and slow, then glaze it with honey, thyme, and rosemary. It's the most amazing turkey you will have!
The meat is so tasty and tender, it almost melted in my mouth. Served on a really nice soft roll with shredded lettuce, tomato, onions, a homemade spicy sauce and mayo, this turkey sandwich is mind-blowing, memorable, and amazing! I have been having fantasies about this sandwich for the last 48 hours, which I cannot discuss here, for my younger readers are not ready for that. A side of spicy broccoli rabe ($3) was quite excellent too.
So, for the best turkey sandwich you'll ever have, head to Torrisi Italian Specialties. Satisfy yourself, and thank me later.
