The cocktail. "An alcoholic mixed drink that contains two or more ingredients — at least one of the ingredients must be a spirit." The cocktail has been making a comeback these last few years, with cocktail lounges popping up all over town, mixologists and bar chefs taking over, becoming stars. The bartender might soon be extinct. There are some great new places that are making some amazing cocktails, and my new favorite of late is The Summit Bar in the East Village. The place is cool, sleek in a hip way, positive, and has some fantastic cocktails.
One of the greatest cocktails I have imbibed is the Ground to Glass ($10), Corralejo blanco tequila, red pepper puree, cucumber, fresh lime, Summit blended bitters, hickory smoked salt. Ingenius.
Follow that with the Breaking The Law ($12), Illegal mezcal reposado, Dimmi Italian cordial, fresh lime, chipotle chili agave, Summit summer orange bitters, cucumber, topped with soda. You'll be in for a really fun night!
End with The Gov’ner ($12), Yamazaki 12 year whisky, toasted cardamom infused agave, Japanese yuzu, fresh orange juice, and you'll hopefully get lucky, but definitely be smiling.
