NYC FOODIE RICE PUDDING SPOT OF THE WEEK: RICE TO RICHES

Ahh..rice pudding. A dessert I rarely eat, and I don't think is too popular either. Could there be a shop that just specializes in this rare dessert? But of course. The very popular Rice to Riches in NoLita, does just this. It does what Pinkberry did for frozen yogurt, Baskin Robbins did for ice cream, and Magnolia Bakery did for the cupcake; popularized a dessert, and created many flavors to appeal to the masses. I stopped in for the second time in my life Monday night to this quirky and modern spot and was faced with an array of flavors to choose from. I went with the peanut butter and hazelnut chocolate ($8.50 serves two). It's very sweet, but the flavors are great, and totally revolutionize rice pudding. So for when those times your stomach screams to you "I want rice pudding!", Rice to Riches will tickle your fancy. (PS. Check out their quirky and cool intro on their website www.ricetoriches.com!)
