Saturday afternoon I stopped by the landmark specialty shop Russ and Daughters for a bagel with whitefish salad. The place is a NYC institution and I actually waited around 30 minutes to order, which I would never do usually, but I must say, it was worth the wait. I ordered the Super Heebster-Whitefish & Baked Salmon Salad with Horseradish Dill Cream Cheese and Wasabi Flying Fish Roe on a Bagel ($10.45). I had mine on an everything bagel, and will tell you that the bagel itself is not mind-blowing, and just okay. But, everything on the bagel was sooo amazing, it made up for it. Each bite was fantastic! I was in whitefish heaven! So, wherever you are in NYC, head down to 179 Houston Street, in the Lower East side, for some mind-blowing bagel toppings!
